I was quite shocked when the national anthem was played , I could not hear the crowd singing . Is this normal in the USA ? At rugby matches it is quite normal to have 80 000 people singing along to the national anthems . And after we got stuffed by the Irish yesterday its about the only thing we Welsh do better than most other rugby playing countries.
hehe.... It's funny though how Ireland have 2 pre-match anthems... -Brian

What's "football"? The only true sport doesn't start for another two weeks. "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

no, people don't usually sing/belt out words along with the national anthem at sports games in north america. don't know why, but that's how it goes.
probably because they don't know the words :-D I can't remember the words to the English National Anthem. "God save our something Queen, erm, Long live our something Queen" "God Save the Queen, send her victorious, something and glorious" "God Save the Queen" Michael :-)

It's ok to just mouth the words, though. If you see shots on TV of players singing along with the anthem, they're probably not using their voice. --Mike-- "Everyone has figured out what 'service pack' really means, so they had to go and change the language.
