One more people don't notice is that they reply to those junk messages (via 'Notify me by e-mail if someone answers this message'), which in turn sends the emails to the spammer. So now the spammer got your email adresseses.

Good point, didn't think of that. Regards, Nish

Same thought here. Meanwhile I will try to comeup with a Greasemonkey script where it removes the whole thread if there are more 5 votes (1.0) for that message. For some reason 'Noice tolerance' feature won't work for me or I didn't understood it correctly.

I, for one, think it's an EXCELLENT idea. I have a suggestion, though - make the number of 1 votes required to lynch a post 10, or even better, let the user decide. BTW, the noise level merely determines which posts to gray out; it does not filter any posts. Cheers, Vikram.

When you create new message, there is a checkbox 'Notify me by e-mail if someone answers this message' under your email. That means any replies to that thread will be sent to the originator's email. So when you replied my earlier message this is what I got in my Inbox. (I replaced your email address)
An answer has been posted to your message at 'The Lounge':

I think so too. Or maybe farming email addresses the old fashioned way by taking them from the reply notifications. I still think that the accounts being used have been compromised by a hack attempt on a weak passworded account used by a "leecher" and forgotten about. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

Butler thinks so too! Though he's got an extended compromised-account theory to back it up. Regards, Nish

More reason to expire accounts that don't get used for 6 months. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

It's actually pretty simple to code a program that pages through the "Who's who" and try the username as the password. Based on past statistics I ran once for a friend's website (a security related forum!), I bet that at least 5% of the accounts can be logged in using the username. So you're going to remove the whole thread if there are more than five "1 votes" for the topic message? Interesting.
