DRM Cr*p
-
I bought a PC mag yesterday (forgot the name) knowing there's a demo to Heroes of Might and Magic V. Seeing that I've never missed the previous ones and considered them to be excellent games I'm thinking of enjoying a wonderful preview of another excellent sequel. I was sorely disappointed, and not because of the game itself (which I haven't tried for reasons below). Reasons I was disappointed: 1. The DEMO game installed Starforce (think Valve) without notifying me at all. 2. Several people have posted Starforce ruins their CD Writers, and any CD emulator. 3. Starforce does not uninstall if you uninstall the game X| . You have to download an uninstaller. 4. Starforce requires a CD Key FOR A DEMO , which requires registration to a website (which has now removed any mention of it as the key seems to be limited to 60,000 only). As a result, here I am fuming over not being able to play a DEMO CD, having to uninstall the cr*p that comes along with it, wasting my time for nothing. No more Heroes for me :(( Edbert Sydney, Australia

The invasive copy-protection on games (or heck, even music CDs) these days sounds bloody awful. I'm glad I don't play PC games anymore.

I'm waiting for my Revolution with a ninja-slaying katana custom-controller. Imagine all the workout you can get by playing games. Yet another excuse to sit in front of the TV ;P. Edbert Sydney, Australia

I haven't purchased a new game in several years now, but it was stuff like this that kept a link to Game Copy World handy when i did. Install the game, install the patches, install the cracks, clean up the crap.
Now taking suggestions for the next release of CPhog...

Don't buy the software, and thell their distributors "Customer Relationship Platoon" (or however they are called nowadays) why.
