I am finally home, after a wretched day at the airport. I checked my luggage in at Dallas, flew to LA, spent 10 hours there, then went to board my QANTAS flight. They no longer take American Airlines boarding passes, so I had to go back to the queue and check in again. My left leg actually collapsed on me while I was doing that, but I made it through. I got the same seat, new boarding pass and got on the plane. The flight was not too bad, I watched Capote and 'Good night and good luck' ( I am fascinated by McCarthyism, it was very good ). I also got 5 hours sleep - I am getting better at this travel stuff. When I landed, my bags werer amongst the last to come out, so I guess FILO. As a result, I guess, a customs guy came and asked me some questions, stamped my entry card, and I didn't have to go through customs proper ( no opening of my bags, etc ). So I checked into my flight and came home. While in the USA and Canada, I dragged Nish and Matt to every store I could see that might sell DVDs. My first purchase was 'Metal Mania Stripped' and my last was 'Triumph the comic insult dog'. While in Texas we bought a DVD to watch most nights, so, all up, I had about 10 DVDs in my case, although I don't know an exact figure. When I opened my case, I had one - Triumph the comic insult dog was the only DVD I had that the baggage checkers didn't like the look of. They also stole a digital camera that Matt gave me as a gift for my wife. I've called to complain and they've asked me to send something in writing, but told me not to get my hopes up, pretty much. I'm feeling pretty jaded with the whole thing. I was worried about my bags getting lost, especially with the connections, but not for them to be rifled. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
