It was probably a marketing man! oooh, the "net" is getting popular...we should jump on the bandwagon and rename all of our future stuff something.NET Visual Stuidio --> Visual Studio.NET Biztalk --> Biztalk.NET wait....lets just drop all the prefixes and make it simply ".NET" -- modified at 5:13 Tuesday 11th April, 2006

Hi.. Expansion for .Net is Network Enabled Technology.. Nothing special about the naming of .net..basically it is using internet technologies.. regards Srini

Hi Madam, It is functioning by using NETWORK SERVICES & TECHNOLOGIES, that's the reason it is named as .NET(NETWORK ENABLED TECHNOLOGY).... :)
