Is it possible to confugure Gmail acount so that two mail applications can receive all messages which arrive on a account? My time is shared between my home and work computer. Mail I receive in Outlook at work does not come in, on my home computer and viceversa. Of course not, the POP3 server has marked that message as delivered so will no deliver it again. If it didn't you would constantly keep recieving the same messages time and time again. The solution to this long known problem was IMAP and Exchange style mail servers

I've got another two email accounts which support POP3 and I can receive messages that are not downloaded in Outlook on the specific computer. I don't receive the other ones even though they still reside on the server. Well, maybe the solution you were talking about is implemented on those. A) Check your Email via the website at work, and just delete everything you dont' want to send home and then start up outlook when you get home to download all the Email. B) Or when you get home, log into Gmail (web) and move everything out of the trash into the Inbox, and unread it all. not by default. afaik if you're sending raw pop commands via telnet it's possible to request a messagebody without deleting it from the server. I don't know what mail clients (if any) provide this behavior in thier gui, nor do I know if gmail's pop server allows this behavior.

The messages are not deleted from the server. They are marked somehow as downloaded, by the server. The thing is that it's probably marking them just as downloaded with no extra options. There is some sort of mechanism to mark the messages as downloaded by certain computer (via IP, or computer name or something). My personal email is managed by my web host's webmail program (SmarterMail, I think). I access this from home and from work using Thunderbird (mozilla.org[^]). At work, my Thunderbird setup for that account has the 'Leave messages on server' checkbox checked. At home, that box is unchecked. I make sure to not run Thunderbird at home when I'm not there. At work, I can read all incoming mail without problems. When I get home, I fire it up, and it downloads everything and removes it from the server. It seems as though Thunderbird properly honors the 'Leave messages on server' setting, so I'd be willing to bet that if you used two instances of Thunderbird to read your POP mail from both locations with that setting, you'd get what you're looking for. YMMV though...

I have the opposite problem. I have dialup at home and occasionally someone sends me their entire photo album and my connection times out. I have tried to go online from work and deleted the file and it still tries to download that file. It must get stuck in a queue somewhere. The only solution I've found is to read all the email on line, and set the options to only send emails from this date forward. I sure wish gmail had a flush button.

Well it's still a beta. I think they'll fix these issues. Do you know where I can post some feedback regarding Gmail? There usually are places like that for beta products.
