Patel, Now a days getting a american visa is very hard. First discuss your chances of getting H1B with your US sponsor. Feel How much they confident they are? Discuss with your friends in US if such conversion is possible and how smooth it is. Dubai can be a very expensive country. foresee your future plans. Only running after better lifestyle or money is not enough. Try to think about security, stability and family values too. You may opt for first come first serve. or just neglect both and wait for even better sure thing in future. Best luck Bye Leya

Leya: You hit the nail on the head: "Try to think about security, stability and family values too." My good friend from Hyderabad at my last contract was making $48.00 hourly W2, and he was married to another H1B'er from India making similar bank. He was about to buy the American dream, an enormous (by my standards) house in a small gated community. But he wasn't happy! Why? Because he was so cut off from his family, his roots in India. His wife & her family spoke a completely different dialect from his own native tongue, and he had several friends from his native land, but he was sincerely unhappy. He often told me of his friends back home making substantially less enjoying roughly the same quality of living (size of house, amount of free time, that sort of thing), but most importantly, were surrounded by the culture they knew and love. The culture of America? Kindergartners are disciplined for giving each other hugs because human contact is against school policy. Most Americans (myself included) are over-weight because all they do is vegetate in front of TVs or Computer Screens (this may be more universal than just America, but hey), and our culture, through things like military re-locations, etc, is so spread out that most family bounds have little if any meaning. My own family immediate family was spread out across four different states a year ago, thousands of miles apart.

Yep, I know indians have more joint families and they will always feel void and vaccum in their hearts when they go abroad. Marlin menro hadn't committed suicide had she been able to get away from loneliness. Its not friends but its your own family which comes first and most soothing and peaceful.. no matter how conflicts there may be internally. Comfort of million dollers can not make you happy and peaceful but its your own family and own surrundings.
