Hand held GPS
-
I am looking for suggesstions for a hand held GPS (for backpacking) and something I can use in the car when I am lost in an unfamiliar city... Hopefully not too expensive, say, under 200-300 bucks range. ............................. There's nothing like the sound of incoming rifle and mortar rounds to cure the blues. No matter how down you are, you take an active and immediate interest in life. Fiat justitia, et ruat cælum

I use a Garmin Etrex Vista Colour for backpacking, i've never tried it in the car but it's never let me down out on the hills.

Garmin Quest[^]. I've got one and love it. Works in the car with voice prompting, handheld and fits in your pocket, has a handlebar mount so I can use it while cycling. Waterproof, 20hr battery life, enough memory to hold all of North America with the ability to add other maps. Excellent screen visibility even in direct sun. cheers, Chris Maunder

I don't think I can help you... though I got mine for $350, the unit normally costs more than that (I got an introduction discount when it came out). I use the Garmin 60c[^] _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. (Japanese Proverb)
