at least 5 men/year; at least 1 month of specifications, requirements, design and reasearch. What kind of CAD do you want to do ? 2d ( autocad or visio type ) or 3d ( ideas, pro/e, catia ... ) The major issue will be to define exactly what is "simple", what is "not that complex" and "medium level", and what functionalities each of them will need to have. Another issue is file compatibility; you will need to support at least one or 2 major file format. Another issue is display, what will you use ? OpenGL, DirectX or GDI+ ?

hmm. I was part of team (3 developers) that created a .NET 3D CAD application. it took the better part of a year; and that was using an open source CSG package, and rendering engine. can you be more specific in what operations/uses you would expect from the application

If someone doesn't give you the specs, don't give units. :) When they say 50 what? Explain when we hash out better specifications in a few minutes, we'll also hash out the units. ;) _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
