Hi folks! :(( I just did a quite "interesting" mistake. By chance I deleted a really necessary file from my USB stick (FAT32). As I just discovered, Windows XP doesn't provide "redo" or a paper basket for removable devices. X| I just thought "No problem, help yourself" and took out a recovery tool to tweak the "first character of the name altered" - thing. Well... THIS worked. But nevertheless the file is corrupted. So my question is: What EXACTLY does WinXP when deleting a file from a removable media? Anyone providing help earns (at least) a beer ;). Greetings, Ralph P.S: Before the flame war starts: I know, that there always has to be a backup copy... You know what follows: Of course; usually, there is one :->.

If the other one offered doesn't work, I have one at home that works very well. The biggest thing is do NOT write any more data to the USB drive until you restore your file!!!!!! _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Don't actually know without looking it up but Windows does the same with files on the Network, presumably to save time from copying the file across from the network. Possibly it's a dinosaur from the past when to copy something (i.e. move it to the recycle bin) off a removable disk or the network took too long to do and as usual MS decided to leave it like that rather than updating it.
