Has anybody heard of (or used) a programming environment/language called M-Technology (formerly known as Mumps)? Many years ago I was a Mumps programmer (and quite a good one) and I wonder how wide spread is this language today. Haim

Used it, loathed it - sorry! I think it's the worst programming language ever. I am quoted being (constructively) critical in the M-Technology and MUMPS Language FAQ, although the e-mail address quoted for me is now way out of date. In the early nineties I worked for the English Health Service in Bristol for a year, where almost all the systems were written in MUMPS (much of it old-style, which may have coloured my views somewhat). Ah... those would be the rocket scientists who tried to explain the MUMPS "global" storage structure in their documentation with a diagram which had "down arrows" pointing to the right and "right arrows" pointing upwards? :omg: :eek: ;P Aside from MUMPS, which I don't think even DEC could get right :-), DEC always seemed to be a company with some great ideas and expertise who made real dumb mistakes that somehow blew it all. Imho, the arrogance of the sales teams led to our downfall. We were pushing a superior (VAX) architecture that sold itself to techies, while IBM was quietly handholding their large business clients with 24x7 onsite support.
