I'm still waiting for my invite, dying to try it! Can you tell us a little more? As for Flickr having competition (I'm a believer that competition is always a good thing btw :) ), is it setup the same way? The Flickr tags idea works really well, as do the groups. Of course, the free Picassa storage space will be a big plus for many.

        free Picassa storage space

        • For free account it's 250 MB free space in PWA vs 200 MB free space in Flickr
        • 6GB space for $25 per year vs Flickr's 2 GB for $24 per year
        • No Tags yet in PWA. They are available in the fat client.
        • Picasa Web Organizer is neat, but not close to Flickr (Gamma) Organizer.
        • Big plus for PWA is Windows client (with all gizmos), which is missing in Flickr (they got only Uploader).
        • I like magnified view in PWA, where you can click on image and drag to move. (just like Google Maps)
        • Sharing photos is very easy in PWA, just like Yahoo Photos. In Flickr, if you have private photos then you can't share with friends/family who don't have Flickr account.
        • You can geotag a picture using Google Earth.

Two very different services. Flickr is all about communities and people who have a passion for photography. Picasa Web Album is for sharing photos with your mum, dad, friends and kids. I actually think PWA is really good and if my mom or dad ever want to share a bunch of photos with me I'd recommend it to them (and not send them to Flickr.) But for my photo friends Flickr is still the bomb. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

Woot! Google let me in! http://picasaweb.google.com/pogowolf[^] If you have used the normal Picassa, not much has changed. Though Now, Picassa with GeoTag via Google Earth, you can FTP your photos, and scan for dups. If you havn't upgraded in a while, Picassa now links into Blogger and you can Email your pics stright from the product. Now just to wait for more drivers so that Picassa understands more then just a handful of image/movie types. Images: .jpg, .bmp, .gif, .png, .psd, .tif Movies: .avi, .mpg, .wmv, .asf, .mov (QuickTime) RAW data files, including cameras from Canon, Nikon, Kodak, Minolta and Pentax. -== The PogoWolf ==- Like a funkey muckin' a bootfall. http://www.pogowolf.com GamersVue: ttp://GamersVue.blogger.com

I agree. PWA is more of competition to new Yahoo (Beta) Photos (which stole the ideas from Flickr).

              Got Signature?

Yeah, exactly. Though Yahoo! does own Flickr so it is more cross-over than theft :) regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

Yahoo can do the same. But between 'build' or' buy', they went with the 'buy' option.

Actually, that's incorrect. In Flickr you get 2GB/month with unlimited storage for $24.95/year. A free account gets you only 20MB/month, but I believe the storage is unlimited.

Thanks for the correction. But information regarding the free account is incorrect. Free account limits only 200 photos. I got both free and paid versions of Flickr. Pro Account for just US$24.95 a year. Here's what you'll get with a Pro Account: * 2 GB monthly upload limit * Unlimited storage * Unlimited bandwidth * Unlimited photosets * Permanent archiving of high-resolution original images * The ability to replace a photo * Ad-free browsing and sharing Compare that to what you get with a Free Account: * 20 MB monthly upload limit * 3 photosets * Photostream views limited to the 200 most recent images * Storage of smaller (resized) images
