I dont know if this is the best place to post this but here goes. I have an exisiting VB6 application that uses SQLDMO to search for any SQL Server instance on a LAN. It works fine but SQLDMO is a nightmare to redistribute. I am currently re-writing the application in dotnet 2.0 (some C# for business objects and VB.NET front end). My question is - is there any alternative to using SQLDMO? I would like to avoid any COM Interop if possible and dont wantthe hassel of distributing the dozen of so files to the multitude of directories the SQLDMO requires. Jon

Thats it. Thanks. I knew there had to be a better way. The hardest thing about .net is learning the framework itself, The languages are pretty simple. The framework is just so big. Jon
