Hi, probably this can be answered well by my indian collegues here. I am out of job now but getting good interview calls. I had a B1 visa (multiple entry) which was sponsored by my previous company. Can I use this visa from other company as well if my next company wants to send me to US for some assignment is that useful then or it has become useless by now. I hope many companies need b1 visas so I might get good offer soon. thanks pathak pathak

yes the company can invite you to the contry but by the law you cant work in USA with b1 visa unless the company in USA knows about this and they are ok with breaking the law which any company in USA most probably will not do it. Plus, the company will not take you in their rolls coz legally you are not allowed to work there (usually its company policy). so the bottom line is, either look for h1b visa from the company in USA or find a good job in India.

Yes, your B1 Visa is not bound to a specific company. So if your next cocmpany wants to send you abroad on business visits (up to 6 months max), you can use the same Visa. You cannot work in the US though. But you can make frequent on-site visits. That's what a lot of Indian companies do. Regards, Nish

He's not asking about working in the US. He wants to know if his next Indian company can send him abroad on the same B1 - and yes, they can. Regards, Nish

Ooops :-O I mis-interpreted his statement. like u said, yes he can go. In one of my friends company that had sponsered his B1 visa, when he quit the company, the company for some reason took his passport and did not return it to him. My friend for some reason did not complain this to police. He was supposed to go to australia for work but could not go because he could not show his passport to his employer in au and so the au company withdrew the offer. :(
