Buying an mp3 player

I am looking for a good, solid MP3 player, to be used as a companion while bike riding or jogging, during the summer. This means that hard-drive-based ones would be probably too fragile. But I also have lots of CDs ripped on my hard disk, and would like to get the highest possible available space. Do you know about some reasonably-priced models? I have seen this[^] one: do you have experiences to share? Of course, it would be a plus if it had standard AAA or AA batteries or an USB plug, but I can live with it. I had a Creative Zen 40gb HDD MP3 player, which was absolutely great. You say that you don't want a HDD one because it'd become defective with your active life, whereas I used it to listen to music whilst riding to work (motorbike). It was loud enough to remove the droan of the 100cc engine screaming because i've got it going full speed (wow 55 mph) and survived multiple drops at this speed from my pocket. If your active life would put that much stress or more on an mp3 player then I suggest thats the one for you. The final straw that broke the MP3 player was when my son pulled the headphones by mistake and it removed the socket inside. I still use the hard drive from the MP3 player to this day, infact it's in front of me with all the mp3's I listen to at work. Gav

I use an iPod Shuffle while bike riding and running. It's perfect for me. I use an armband, and it's out of the way and the sound is good. Not quite what you're looking for as far as space, I think 1GB is the biggest, but I have a 512 and get 5+ hours and update the playlist weekly or so. BW
