The post below about wallpaper got me thinking. What sites do you guys/gals use for your wallpapers? Do you change it often? I used to change my wallpaper according to what this guy put out: http://www.monthlywallpaper.com/wallpaper/[^] His artwork is all original, but he hasen't been doing it for a while. My 'wallpaper' is blank right now, because I have not found anything worthy of taking up even a fraction of my precious precious 1GB of memory. ... but I'm open to change regarding my wallpaper ... please post sites that have cool wallpaper, but remember this is a PG rated forum -- modified at 6:58 Thursday 10th August, 2006

The last time I changed my work PC's wallpaper was when Star Wars Episode II (yes II) came out. (It's a beautiful shot from the opening approach to Coruscant.) Unfortunately, I can never SEE my desktop when I'm at work (right now I have two instances of VS2005 open, one VC++ 6.0 instance, e-mail, Excel, Firefox... and this is a pretty light day... I'm sure my wallpaper is under there somewhere). I never think to change it because I never see it, so I never get sick of it. At home I made a wallpaper from the "Ships of the Line" collection at this awesome site which is for downloading custom DVD artwork, not really wallpapers. Ric posted the background image (without the spine text) for download. (If you're into Star Trek and you have the TV sets on DVD, you must check them out... I use "The Captain's Collection" for my TOS, TNG and DS9 sets and it looks incredible, and the cases are way easier to use than the ones they come with. There's also custom artwork for Lord of the Rings, The Terminator, among many others, and all free with no registration.)

Do any of you use an auto wallpaper changer, I am looking for some software but most of it out there is either crap or expensive shareware crap, are there any freeware/open source alternatives ?

I've been using Panorama 32[^] for almost a decade I think. There are a couple here at Code Project that are good too.

Art of Greg Martin[^] and Digital Blasphemy[^] are my #1 sources. These are good too. Astronomy Picture of the Day Archive[^] Hubble Site[^] Vision Afar[^] Bjornbreivik.com/[^] Webshots has some great beach images, but the software is mediocre.

I usually use my own photos or something I find amazing on deviantART[^]. Right now I'm using a program called DesktopEarth[^] that displays on your desktop a planisphere with night and day areas, according to the real time and overlays real satellite images of the clouds. I like it.

I use pictures of my camera :-). I always thought visual paradox was nice change, but it's not a real 'safe' site. (some screensavers contain virusses) Visual Paradox[^] -- modified at 8:58 Thursday 10th August, 2006

:~ ok... :~ Surely this isn't some lame reference to naked "tribeswomen" since that too lost its humorous appeal about age 14.

Microsoft Power Toys XP add a clear and convenient "Slide swow" tab to Display properties. There you can specify a source folder, changing frequency, some parameters and that's it.
