    For a while now I had been using AM Browser[^] (formerly Crazy Browser). It introduced me to the wonders of tabbed browsing, and made me slowly feel the need to use IE. For the last few months, I have switched to Firefox (Yippie!! :) ), but there is one feature that I am unable to duplicate. I find it REALLY annoying that if I'm in a current tab, viewing a website, then type a new path in the address bar, it replaces the view in the current tab, instead of creating a new tab. I could just do Ctrl+T and then type my address, but this should not be necessary. I've downloaded some extensions (like Tab Mix Plus and Session Manager), but to no avail. Help!

      You find it annoying that typing in a location in the address bar affects the current tab? Actually I would love an extension that would give me a pop up and the open the type URL into a new tab. Maybe I will go write one.

        Tab Mix Plus Options->Events->Tab Opening and checking "Address bar" in the "Open Tabs from" section, does just that. Unless, of course, I misunderstood the problem...

          Sweet! :) That was exactly what I was looking for. I've only been using this extension for less than a day, so I missed that one. Or maybe I should have RTFM!

            So the address bar should be read-only? Was the only way to reuse a tab in AM Browser to click on a link? I'm thinking I wouldn't like that, but I understanding missing a feature for no other reason than being used to it.

            Charlie if(!curlies){ return; }

              I guess its up to a person's taste, but I often type a new address, but at the same time want to keep the page I'm currently on. It probably will result in an enormous number of opened tabs (see this[^] thread). But its preferable than having to press the Back button. All-in-all, I find it more efficient (in terms of speed), when I'm trying to navigate web pages. Having said that, I do believe Crazy Brower had a short-key (holding down the shift key???), that gave you the option to open up an address in the current tab.

                The shortcut in firefox is alt-enter. You probably know middle-click to open a new tab, middle-click also works in bookmarks/history/home and to close a tab aswell.

                    And if you *do* want to reuse a tab with an address from the address bar, type it in and press ALT+Return - that should open the new page in the current tab.
