news in general doesn't have the quality as it should have. Most articles are tampered with to make it sell. Informing the public with quality information seems to be set lower and lower on the list of priorities of the news agencies. :sigh:

And the Internet makes it worse, where blog opinion gets repeated as though it were fact.

To many here and in the Arab world Hezbollah are covered in glory And how the hell is that objective journalism? It's the Hugh Edwards trick of putting "people say" before an opinion you agree with, that isn't news, that's poorly disguised editorial.

How should it be reported in your view?

As an opinion piece, not as news. "people say" whatever the hell the journalist wants.

Why report it at all? It's *not* news. Who gives a shiite!

Just to help me understand your perspective, please provide a link to an article along the same lines (i.e. war in the ME) that you think is news and is unbiased.

Isn't that true of any article that quotes people? Whether the quote is from George Bush, Tony Bliar, Ehud Olmert or the man in the moon, "people" are going to spin their words in the fashion that best suits their agenda.

It's unattributed, quoting someone, naming them and not paraphrasing would be reasonable. It's the "people say" trick that is not objective.

That's a silly contention. How am I supposed to guess what you think is appropriate reportage? If you're too childish to back up your big mouth with actual beliefs or facts, this conversation is useless. No wonder you admire espier so much. You and him are peas of a pod.

No, that's an accurate contention. You're the one in doubt and know what you'll accept as "unbiased" reportage. I do not know you nor what you'd accept. Do your own work.

You're not supposed to guess what I would think. Think for yourself.
