Hello. I'm trying to save pictures from a crashed XP machine (not mine). (No, it doesn't boot in safe mode either). I had to boot it with a start diskette for Win95, and then load ntfsdos. So I have access to the pictures. Now I need to burn them on CD before formatting and re-installing XP. I would appreciate some hints on where I can get a free CD-writer program for MS-DOS. TIA.

How about using some live Linux disto instead of DOS? -- I was beaten by 1 minute! :sigh:

Why not just connect the HD up to another system as a slave and copy the files off that way?

Thanks. I must have used the wrong search phrase when I Googeled for it. It seems interesting, I will check it out.

Thanks. It seems as the easiest way to do it. Iv'e been thinking about it too. But it seems as the HD is corrupted, I get an error message (during "DIR /S") that says something like "Path not found". I'm not sure if there is an actual probelm with the HD, or if it's an issue with NTFSDOS. Anyway, I think that could cause a problem. Another problem is that I'm not supposed to remove the case of my home-computer, it's rented. :( But I think I'm gonna give it a try anyway. :-D Thanks again.
