So a week or two ago the power went out at the grocery store I work at. Fear not the cash registers are UPS'd and we have a back up generator for cash registers, emergency lights, automatic doors, etc... Five minute laters all but 3 brand new $4000+ registers were gone... oops. Knowing that this shouldn't be happening I abandoned my job (counting registers) and tried fixing things. First thing I found were a couple defective UPS's (and brand new too boot) and that they were installed wrong. Instead of plugging the UPS into the labled generater outlet they plugged it into the one for non-essential devices (i.e. not connected to generator). All fine and dandy I personally got all but two working by the time the power came back (the defective units). Several days later I was talking to my boss, who had called the large computer company that built and installed the registers. Needless to say he was quite upset when the words "its a feature" came up. It turns out that this company had neglected to pass on the information to the install crew that there was a generator... Ready for the kicker, the store I work at was one of the last stores to get the new registers... they have been upgrading all the stores to these registers for ~4 years now... That means that there is a good chance that all of the stores were setup incorrectly  The good news, I got a congratulations and thanks for my hard work in an emergency. A clue about the big computer company, think chess.

Used to work at one myself; my brother and father both work at grocery stores. Care to reveal which store chain?

Don't want to say much, but really big in the midwest [Update] Though checking your profile you may not have heard of it being from bloomington, Mankato is one northern most stores.

I'd never lower myself to cub... unless it was life and death and my only choices were cub or walmart. :)
