So here I am. My last day of work and less than 3 hours left. In a couple of weeks I will be going to college to finish my degree then into teacher training (I hope). Its been a month since I handed my notice in and for most of it I’ve still been working my ass off with one of the biggest projects we have had. Even now I am still getting urgent emails from the customer but I should be doing the last update for them in about an hour then that should be it (or at least as far as I am concerned). Although this change of direction has been in the planning since Christmas its only really last night and today that its all hitting me. I am giving up a reasonably well paid job (for the local area at least, Pay around here is pretty crap at best) to become a student. I also have a family and a house so it’s a bit more serious than just dropping out for a while. At least we don’t have a mortgage to pay and my wife has recently got a better job so whatever happens we will always have a roof over our heads. Its not as though we haven’t done the maths either. All done (with grant, student loan, tax credits etc) we should only be about 2.5K net worse off. Still it’s a pretty nerve wrenching time but I am really looking forward to getting into the course. I will miss this place but you just know when its time to go and I get the feeling that the time is now. My desk is cleared, My PC is clean and I have neat little piles of folders full of documentation for the outstanding stuff. The only thing left to do is remove the photo of my little boy from the side of my monitor. I will still be using this place though. I guess I will be needing it more than before. I’ll try my best not to post any homework questions.:-D JJ

I wish you all the best luck. But, couldn't you find a part-time job or become a telecommuter? I've done that for almost one year now (and I'm just entering to my last year of university). Anyway, good luck! :)

If we'd do that we would get a negative balance :wtf: (although I have to admit, our paychecks are slightly different :->)

I've found a living worth working for, but I haven't found work worth living for.
