Normally you can just go to your recent messages to find recent posts. Click your profile Click "Messages Posted[^]. I don't see any recent messages with the title "Reading Habits". When did you make the post? -- modified at 6:57 Wednesday 20th September, 2006

I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

Funny. I posted it last night say 10ish(India time) and quite a few people replied to it including Nish(twice at last count). I still have the emails(only 2 came though) notifying me of the latest post but the link always brings me to the first page of the Lounge. Me wonders if me has broken some rule of the Lounge. p.s. Sorry for the late reply but I didnt get any mail notification for your reply.:^)

The "desperate times call for desperate measures, please go to this site and fill in this survey" message? It was deleted.

          cheers, Chris Maunder

Why is that except the thread which I genuinely want to be removed does not get removed and all the others thread do?:(

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. -Brian Kernighan

May I ask why it was deleted? As far as I am aware of,I didnt break any rules, it wasnt an advertisement, it was a simple survey on reading habits and it wasnt offensive. Plus I posted it in the Lounge!! where I thought we had the freedom to post anything(within rules of course:))

The test I put on threads is: if everyone posted a thread like this would it threaten the lounge? Imagine if we had 10 threads a day of the type "I have a survey, please fill it out". They could be from people looking for exposure to their site, marketers looking to get free market research, spammers looking to harvest emails by seeming to be legitimate CP members just asking people for a hand. Either way a "please go to this site" message doesn't provide the community with interesting IT related news, it's not a funny joke, it's not a question or topic of debate, and it's not a personal thought or musing. It's essentially an ad.

                cheers, Chris Maunder

That makes sense. Tankoo:) p.s. How about putting your test in the Guidelines? That way, the onus is on the posters to be more responsible.
