Just came across Chris Austin's thread below[^] and wondered how many proud, new* parents are there out there on CP? My team leader commented that "you're such a new dad, Jon" the other day, as she found me idly watching my Slickr screen saver[^] serve up photos of my boy for me. (This[^] is probably one of my faves...) Anyone else been caught admiring photos of their kids at work? Anyone else just think their kids are the bees knees? Anyone else think it is so great to be a parent? Or is it just me...? Cheers, Jon *subjective: my boy is two years old, but I still consider myself to be a "new" dad.
Hi Jon, My son is 16 months old and I completely understand where you're coming from. I remember having a chat with Paul Watson before Mikey was born on how it's a shame that people change after having kids - well, just goes to show how little I understood of the love one has for one's kids! Mikey is the light of my life, and when he comes running up to me with that huge grin and his arms outstretched for a cuddle I know he feels the same way about his mum. What greater joy or satisfaction could there be in life than knowing you've just spent a whole day with a wonderful, new little person and have helped shape their world? Your son is beautiful, what a grin! Easy to see you are enjoying being a dad from that shot  Just to continue the thread of course ( :-O )this[^] is one of my (many  ) fav's of Mikey

Yeah, but I find it so easy to fall into that "gushing parent" mode... :sigh:

Not yet, but if all goes well, then I will be a new father around St. Patty's Day, 2007. :)

In my defence, most people agree with my that my son is pretty special. Yours looks like a cool little guy, tho. I have a 10 year old girl in the house now. It's no longer ALWAYS great to be a parent. But, on aggregate, it's still good.

Here is clan frog: http://www.codefrog.com/ClanFrog.jpg[^] Nod to Vunic for the reminder: My oldest is Grant at 6, Katie will be 5 on December 21st and Paige is around 19 months old. They are my herd and I think they are the coolest thing... Kids are awesome. Grant and I sat and watched Google videos of military planes all night it was a blast. Then I went upstairs and started the pillow fight of a 1000 generations with all 3 of them. I'm a tyrant and they love it.

Hi Megan, Yes, it is weird how people change once becomming parents. We were one of the first couple in our social group that had a baby, and a lot of people really couldn't understand how things had changed for us. I'd get a call on a Friday afternoon, "d'you wanna come out for a pint, Jon?" or "d'you wanna go 'boarding tomorrow?" and I'd have to say, "Yeees, but I can't, I got responsibilities now and I need to plan things in advance now..." I'm sure a lot of my friends saw it as a terrible change in me! I love it when Isaac turns to me and exclaims, "Ididdit! Ididdit!" (when he's put toothpaste on his brush, or...) and I really love it when he, unprompted (I swear), sleepily mumbles, "I luss you..." when I go to tuck him up. OK, Jon, stop gushing... Great photos of Mikey, but then you've always had good photos... Jon

Hey, cool. My son certainly lives up to his name of Isaac. Jon
