Some people are scared of potential problems either with the upgrade process itself, or with the end product, and so force themselves to use older products. Other people just don't see the need. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" Though to use that argument for web browsers weems a little stupid, given that they are still evolving. ____________________ David Wulff :bob: I know who you are mate.

So we need to make them upgrade their browsers! As for myself, I added a lil javascript which will take you to www.webstandards.org if your browser doesn't support standards. Try to navigate to my homepage with something like Netscape 4.x :) I know it can be a problem for buisness sites, which don't care of what people using, but want all of them to be on their sites. And here I see the problem. Instead of telling people "Hey! Upgrade your browser!" they just supporting all of them. This is awful! :( Philip Patrick Web-site: www.saintopatrick.com "Two beer or not two beer?" Shakesbeer Need Web-based database administrator? You already have it!

Ignorance, This is why so many software companies have tried to make there products auto update, as they realised users wouldn't do it, even whilst free. Being a webdeveloper also sucks due to the number of browsers that do stuff that isn't in the standards. Having to put in special features for Navigator or Opera sucks big time. I'd love to see a return to text based browsers. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

Consider yourself lucky Philip. here I need to develop pages that will work not just with IE but with Netscape on Linux/Solaris. You wont believe how ugly everything looks on a Solaris. Even Linux is better. Solaris sucks!!! My boss was even saying he wants the web app I am doing now to work on Opera for Linux. Nish Make MSDN universal, FREE!

I thought it was just another ISP, but I keep running into these unfamiliar terms like "screenname", "keyword" and "AOL browser". Does AOL provide an entirely new application layer to the internet? What can you do, and what can't you do with AOL? Why would they write a special browser (is it built on top of IE?)? /moliate

My boss when I was a sales rep asked why the Javascript I wrote for our page did not work, I couldn't convince him I could not write Javascript that would work on his browser - Netscape 3.
