What's the combined name for those small veins that run vertically along your hand between your wrist and your fingers? Well whatever they are called they are certainly well supplied with blood... because I managed to slice my left hand open across all three of them and it took me the best part of 20 minutes and an entire first aid kit to stop the bleeding long enough to get a clean bandage on my hand so I could drive down to the A&E to have it looked at. It wouldn't be quite so bad if I cut them doing some dangerous, manly passtime... but I managed to slice myself using a plastic tape measure!! I've fallen twenty feet through a roof onto a concrete floor, I've fallen off a ladder and very nearly lost my right hand after my wrist was partly severed by a nail I landed on, I've even (temporarily) removed the side of my foot with a scalpel when I slipped off a chair while cutting my toe nails, but I have never, ever, bled as much as this tonight. It was free flowing out of my hand and through my fingers quicker than I could swab it off. The resulting wound is only a few mm deep, but about forty mm across. X| It didn't exactly help that I don't drive an automatic and my car is RHD... Ow ow ow. <-- still in pain, but alive.

Sorry to hear about all that. Sounds to me like you're attempting to remove all of your extremities in construction accidents. Better stick to programming! Heal fast.

Ah, it's all in the reaction. Did you let out a girlish "Eeeek!" or just look at the bloody mess and say, "Arrrrgghhh!" and relish in the burst of adrenaline and testosterone? Hope it heals up nicely.

Uh, David? I think I'm sensing a pattern here somewhere... I recommend large quantities of , and a safely padded & stationary environment to drink them in! :) Seriously, man - heal up quickly. A sliced hand is nothing for a programmer to trifle with.

Strangely, I didn't make any noice, other than a swearing quitely under my breath. It didn't really hurt at the time - it was just a shock to look down and see blood pouring off of my hand all over the floor.
