His style reminds me of Al Di Meola (Montreal show[^])

He's an Aussie - he opened for Eric Clapton in Melbourne years ago, and to be honest, I thought Eric should have been embarrassed to have to follow him.

Eric Clapton is a good musician in his own right, but I agree, it wasn't the brightest of ideas for the organizers to get a guy like Tommy to open the show.

The issue is simply that Eric is a one trick pony. Tommy plays in so many different styles, he's a more diverse musician.

I don't imagine Clapton cares anymore who starts a show for him, he isn't competing for guitar god anymore. most folks come just to see him he has basically done it all and his signature is imprinted upon everything he does. Here is a friend of mine Electric Violinist with a sampler from the C64 sessions he does once a year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbQu4CP2Zk4 http://www.madfiddler.co.uk/sounds.htm Any violinist electric or acoustic here is a forum for you http://www.fiddleforum.com/fiddleforum[^]

I remember Al Di Meola from the 70s. Impressive physical expertise, but his music more often than not had difficulty rising above the feeling of someone practicing their scales at a high rate of speed. Perhaps Tommy Emmanuel is able to transcend that.

Yes, I agree, most of his tracks were somehow more technical by nature than melodic, but some of his tunes gave me the feeling my neurons were having sex.

More information than I really needed, Mircea. Truly. :-D
