Its a laser-scanning-microscope. It allows to scan specimen point-by-point plane-by-plane with a laser. It then detects fluorescent light coming back through the lense from the sample through a very small aperture (this means you get higher resolution than in a conventional microscope). Afterwards you can do 3D-reconstructions of the sample and stuff. Its pretty cool - but the microscope room is dark so its sometimes difficult to keep awake... Cheers Martin

In the good old times it was always below zero on evenings at the end of october. I know it for sure, because at this time there was always a thin layer of ice (from the fog) on the saddle of my motorcycle when me and my friends came out of the pub. :-D Marius
