As a coder i am very concerned soon people will demand stuff that runs on vista... than i will have to buy new expensive machines and even more expensive Vista :(

Yes, it is not a problem, it is a blessing. Early adopters typically want all the applications that they use to be built specifically with the platform in mind. Since there is little software available that takes advantage of Vista, anyone releasing such applications should do pretty good in sales for the first year or two, until the market starts to become saturated. Opportunities such as this usually only come around about every 8-10 years. The last big change was Windows 95, it has been a few years to say the least :) Windows 2000, 2003 and XP were nice improvements (Windows 2000 being one of the biggest steps), but Vista (and specifically 64 bit for multicore), will be a big change. Microsoft is raising the bar again and after the dust settles in another 18-32 months, most people will probably be running Vista, unless someone else comes along with something really special. So, it is time to bite the bullet, obtain some decent hardware (spec is not really that high, my last upgrade was only $540) and Windows Vista. Best to focus on where the technology will be shortly rather than dwelling on legacy technology.

Unreal...That blog has 64 stupid people praising what exactly???? The box??? Thank god that even since MS had to strip every feature of vista that mattered they did not strip the nice shiny box. That is worth some points... right?? spread ubuntu
They only had to strip it down for the European release because of claims by the EU. I'm glad I'm not their. While I'd still replace Windows Firewall with ZoneAlarm Security Suite, I'd much rather have a firewall in the OS to tie me over. The removal of the firewall, even though it's minimal, is dangerous.
