I have a ASP.Net 2.0 website, which uses a middle layer Dll. Of course, everything works fine an well on the development box. However, when I "Publish" the website to a local folder and move it to the server - it fails with a 404? In the same website I have included a basic html file, which if browsed to, will render on the client. Do I have to register the middle layer dll with the GAC? Shouldn't the .net runtime find the mid-tier assembly in the applicaitons folder and load it?

do you need to investigate an online backup[^] company

Is the live server IIS configured to use .NET 1.x or 2.0 for the site. I've had a similar problem when the site was set to use .NET 1 instead of 2.0
