Digital Camera
-
Hi, I am looking for a new digital camera to replace my three year old Canon S50. I am not really interested in high-end or digital SLR models. The closest thing I can think of an SLR type is Sony Cybershot DSC-H5. I have narrowed my search to the following models Canon Powershot SD800 Canon Powershot SD900 Canon Powershot SD700 Panasonic Lumix FX07/FX50 Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 Nikon CoolPix P4 From these the Canon SD900 is expensive ($499). I don't want to spend that much money for a point-and-shoot camera. Anybody used these cameras? What is your opinion on these? What about Fuji cameras(I really don't like the XD card) Thanks in advance, Madhu.

My wife has one of the higher end Lumix cameras, and has been very happy with it. We looked at the FX07 and were really impressed with it too - the screen is huge, which makes a big difference, and it has powerful optical zoom, two things that we were looking for (she ended up with the lumix fz7[^])

Thanks. One of my friend told me that there is too much noise in Lumix Cameras(Fx07/Fx50) and requires post processing. Is that true? Thanks, Madhu.

You get noise when it's very dark, but that's true of any camera. Something that I found handy when camera shopping is PBase's index of photos by camera: http://www.pbase.com/cameras/[^] Select a camera model, and browse a random selection of photos taken with that camera
