So my company is currently working along with another company at some project. There are all sort of tools, management systems, etc on their end that we need to use with this job and the thing is that they're not documented. Basically when we need something done we have to ask them what's the procedure for submitting code, test reviews, HLD, etc. The thing is that new people in our company are joining in on the project so when confronted with a review, code submit, etc they're not aware of the procedure, so we need to create some documentation regarding the steps to follow. I thought to myself that wikis are probably the best approach since everyone can join in and update them as appropriate. I found this list of Wiki Engines[^] but that's a long list and there isn't any info regarding the features these wikis support. Basically what I would need is a Wiki that's easy to install and support an export feature. A Wiki is currently in development in the company, but we can't wait until release. We would later need to export the contents into our wiki, so the export feature is a must. Any recommendations for a particular wiki?

As far as I know, there is no wiki that supports exporting. <advertisement> Anyway, you might check my wiki engine (see signature :-D ). It's very easy to install (really). It's not meant for a "corporate" environment, but there are already many companies that uses it for internal documentation. </advertisement>

We use MediaWiki for Awasu and it's been basically OK. WikiMatrix[^] is a really good resource for comparing wikis.

We use Confluence as our corporate Wiki for a small distributed company and we are quite happy with it. It supports exporting to PDF or Word docs which we use quite frequently. For non-open-source use it costs money ($1200 if I remember), has a WYSIWIG editor that mostly works and lots of useful plugins. Easy to install standalone or as part of an existing Tomcat/Apache install, I have it running proxied behind IIS on a single server box. Free evaluation period, so give it a try. -N
