After many many years of waiting, I have finally rented "The Shining" from the video store and watched it with my friends. I really hate horror movies because they usually end up as unplanned comedies... But some few good movies really scare you - this is one of them! I really liked it. Other few good horror movies are "The Exorcist" and "The Sixth Sense". I liked them since they also had a plot and got me scared a couple of times. Most "horror" movies feature a stupid teenage brat running off with a chainsaw for 90 minutes... So, anyone seen "The Shining"? Isaac Sasson, Lean, mean posting machine! Sonork ID 100.13704

Yeah, Hitchcock Rocked :-) What he developed was suspense, the art of allowing the audience to know what would happen next, but the charaters not knowing the plot. So you just wanted to run up to the screen and tell the actors to "get the hell out of there" and "don't open that door". That shower scene from "Psycho" I still think was marvelous, considering all you saw was a shadow, then some blood going down the plughole. Today they spend millions on special effects and still can't better that. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

I don't care for horror movies myself but Sixth Sense is the best film I have seen in ages - a true thriller with a twist I didn't even ealise was there, let alone what it was. If you hear people say "They don't make films like they used to" - they do ! :-D

Along with Stephen King, I liked the remake better. I really enjoyed Jack's 'The Shining' for years until the remake came out. Stephen King's work is way to complex for a 2 hour movie. The Stand miniseries was done excellently as well. Another great movie for suspense that is new is the Mothman Prophecies. It's been a long time since I've been totally wound up by a movie. Mothman Prophecies had me on the edge of my seat, freaking out through the entire length of the movie. As far as horror goes, it's very gruesome but Thirteen Ghosts was an awesome thrill ride.
