Windows Live Messenger eating up my memory
-
A couple of days ago (only after a few hours working at my PC) my system began telling me I didn't have enough Virtual Memory although I have 1 GB of RAM installed. In Process Manager it showed a whopping 2,4 GB of RAM in use !!! Never had this problem before, so I started to investigate what could be the reason. Began scanning for virusses, spyware, trojans,... all with no result (tried almost every known online scanner). Then I started killing all processes one by one and then ... oops ! - after killing Windows Live Messenger It went down from 2,4 to only 500 MB. Anyone ran into the same problem ? I always try to keep my system clean, so this really puzzles me. BTW: reverting to Messenger 7.5 didn't solve the problem. Now I re-installed Windows Messenger (from the Windows XP CD and doesn't has this memory-eating problem) but now I miss all the nifty features I am so fond of in Windows Live Messenger :( Make a living of your hobby and you'll never have to go to work again

I have had the same thing happen to me. It has only done it once. I also recommend you download A-Patch, its a neat little tool that will allow you to remove all the advertisements and customize it like you never though possible.
