One little CD gone, Then two CDs gone, Then 5 more gone, For a total 7 gones, If I was a CD R, I'd wanna cry, Cause I'd be just a goner, For a nasty CD burner. [funny how frustration wakes up the poet in me]_

Cool idea. A friend of mine had a similar idea (form a company that sues spammers) and I thought that it was the biggest load of bollocks that I'd ever heard. How wrong I am... Cheers, Simon "I get paid for my brain and my thinking in several obscure worlds", Olli, The Lounge

simons wrote: How wrong I am... I dunno mate, One problem is Jurisdiction, if a company in Timbuktu with an ISP Wandaland Spams you, where do you take them to court. Even in the US across state borders is probably difficult. Also to sucessfully sue, the company you sue must have money. Anyhow I wish them all the success. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

I think it's interesting that we often qu-ote each other in our sigs and attribute the qu-otes to "The Lounge". --- Daniel Fergusson, "The Lounge"

If I can get 500$ for each spamming message I receive I'll change my job from "programmer" to "unsolicited e-mail recipient" :) The action against the spammer is based on USA (and state of Washinghton) laws, so I suppose you'll have no luck trying that outside US or against a non-american spammer. And sometimes spamming messages can be very funny... Look at http://www.thespamletters.com/ for some examples (the most entertaining thing are the replies who that guy actually sent to the spammers). This morning I receive a message about "Excellent Electromotion-hydraulic hammer" beginning with: "Dear sir/madam: We are glad to know you from internet,we are the biggest and the best manufacturer of forging hammers in China. Also we are an ISO9001 enterprise." Then the message start to explain the marvels of "Electromotion-hydraulic" forging hammers agains the old and boring "steam and pneumatic" ones. At least I learnt something reading my e-mail :)

If I copyright my email address username, could I then protect it from being sold bewteen Spamming companies on their address lists according to international copyright laws? I'm not sure about what specific copyright/trademark laws protect people from. I use the same nick for all my email addresses. kevnar. Perhaps companies could trademark their domain names: hotmail, yahoo, juno, etc. in the same way. Would these tricks even make a difference? Enforcement is the key I suppose, and who can keep track of every under-the-table deals that takes place out there? Oh well. Just a thought. Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.
