Anyone using DVI monitors
-
I'm thinking about getting a new monitor at home (otherwise children will steal mine), and I wonder if I should consider DVI. LCD screens with DVI input are getting cheaper, and graphics cards with DVI does not cost more than those with analog output. Does anybody have experience with DVI monitors? Is it really worth it? I honestly have no idea, but the first thing that pops into my mind is Digital Video In/put. Was I close? ____________________ David Wulff Have you tried a Gold Hound? Haven't you noticed that I edited my message? I was pretty sure we're talking about a digital connector, only I haven't heard of it :-) - Dan "Intel inside - Idiot outside"

I'm using a Silicon Graphics 1600SW / Multilink with an ATI All in Wonder Radeon 8500DV... It's pretty sweet :) 1600x1024 widescreen, always handy for code editing. I'm not too sure what the difference is like since my old monitor's connection was analog, but the picture was pretty bad anwyay. The LCD is fantastically bright and sharp though, although ClearType is a welcome addition in XP! From what I've read, DVI doesn't offer a huge difference in picture quality, most reviewers seem to be unable to distinguish. Of course, that's not to say there isn't a difference and since the extra cost isn't really huge I can't see why you ought not to get a card with DVI.
