Pants. I can't load windows help (.hlp) files on Vista. Apparently, (according to microsoft help[^] WinHlp32 is nolonger included with windows. It also says:

Also, third-party programs that include .hlp files are prohibited from redistributing the Windows Help program together with their products.

    And finally:

Users who want to view 32-bit .hlp files must download the program... The download for Windows Help is still in development. It will be available in time for the consumer release

Great, so I've downloaded a .hlp file from the BBC, and now I need to spark up VMware just to read it.

Yep! Fortunately that was the only vista incompatibility in my product. We migrated an old hlp file to chm.

Read the EULA very closely. I'm not sure you're violating it just be turning the machine on. :-D

Sweet, I've been using Biblet's WinMail.dat trial converter that you have to re-download every other month.

Wasn't it a source of security issues?

Couldn't it've been run in a minimal privilage account like IE if it really was just about security problems?

Yea but it was housed in a VSS server. Need I continue? While I never really did like the old help files, they did have one feature that was pretty cool the "annotate feature" was nice. To bad that wasn't carried over to HTML help. Someone has to come up with a decent html help IDE. The HTML Help app is worthless pile.

I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:
