The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are all about how many polygons, pixels, shaders etc. they can render per second. The hype is mainly around their graphical capabilities. So any advances elsewhere in the industry in graphics will date them. With the Wii the main hype is around how much fun it is. That is much harder to date with advances. The Wii has nice graphics but they are not a patch on the other system. So it isn't the reason you buy it and so it isn't as important if the industry advances in graphics.

Well, that's one view of it I guess. I think that the really good games incorporate both good graphics with good gameplay. But I see your point. I bet also that after this initial innovation of the controller Nintendo will be back on board with the graphics push.
