That bit will be fine. It's nearer to 30' than 40' because of the ground beneath it (I can balance it on two flowerpots and the edge of a birdbath), plus I've been up there loads of times and know the best places to hold on. I always have someone to hold the ladder and I attach it to the roof with hooks when I get to the top. It's a massive four part ladder - it flexes a bit but it never falls over, and I've given it my fair share of tries. When you get into the second half of your nine lives you tend to adopt more cautious passtimes, so I don't take risks witohout planning them through. I'm actually more worried about losing my footing while trying to balance this 12 foot monster of a television aerial in one hand, and clamp it to a pole with the other. If I still can't get a digital signal after installing that then I am going to be mightily pissed off.

Lol, it wsn't quite that bad. I got it up in the end, and managed to run cable to one of the rooms in the house. I'm taking a break now though. I'm quite surprised - the one I have done has an excellent picture quality.
