I can imagine Nnamdi's reaction when his friend knocked the beer into his computer case: "You idiot! You complete friggin' idiot! Good grief man, how can you be so bloody stupid? What a waste of beer!" Good luck with that one Nnamdi, I hope the beer didn't damage any of your neon blue case fans. ;P

I doubt Budweiser would be strong enough to cause any damage. It's so 'lite' it would probbaly evaporate on contact.

The other day I was trying to get Vista working on my PC - had graphics problems.  Well, a couple days ago I did, then put a game on there and played for a bit.  Later that evening,  mate knocked over a bottle of beer, sending some of it into my still open PC...onto the graphics card  Busy rinsing it now, fingers crossed.

 At my last corporate job (hopefully the last EVER working for "The Man") we often had beer around when we worked late into the night. One night, reaching for the phone, I knocked a bottle over, which splashed with perfect precision onto my keyboard - instantly killing it. I unplugged the keyboard and wandered off in search of the IT guy - the usual "serious about keeping the systems up" IT guy and more importantly, the keeper of the replacement parts. I found him in the hermetically-sealed, Halon-equipped, high-tech server room. I walked in the door with my keyboard in my hand, braced for the well-deserved verbal spanking I was going to get. The (short) conversation went like this: (IT Guy) What's up? (Me) My keyboard's fried. (IT Guy) Spilled a beer on it? (Me) (thinking) How the h*ll did he know? (Me) (Saying sheepishly) Yeah. As I said that, I looked over and saw his bottle right next to one of the server console keyboards. We laughed. He handed me a new keyboard. (Me) Thanks man! I guess you had to be there :) Anyway - Party Foul!! Penalty box for spilling a beer! I hope your electronics survived! :) Mark

It was a bottle of Gem, an ale made here in Bath.

That was my initial thought, as i thought it was my beer at first.  Then I saw what it fell onto, and thought "damn it, why does everybody spill stuff on my electrical equipment!" - as a housemate knocked a glass of water over a load of wires/plugs a week ago...I may have to ban them from the area of my room close to my computer. As for neon blue, ive not got round to modding the shuttle...ive got the dremel here with me though..was planning on buying a new cooler for the graphics card as this one is very loud, but all the quieter ones would stick out the side of the case...an opportunity for some blue/white lights i think ;P

depends what case you want. A cheap ugly steel case starts at about $50, good styling, improved airflow/cooling (for gamers), and aluminum construction (lighter for lan party users or aesthetic reasons (IMO brushed metal looks better than painted)) all add 50-100% to the cost. A case meeting all of those reqs can easily run $200-300

-- Rules of thumb should not be taken for the whole hand.
