    i think i've noticed it randomly clicking on things that the mouse is merely hovering over. and, it seems to jump to the top of the Z order for no reason, too.

        Some of us are apparently slower than others. I hated it from the moment I accidentally allowed Windows Update to install it at work. It's garbage; definitely the nadir in my browser experience, and that goes back a ways (something involving turtles on DOS). We hatessss itttt. But it has never caused my cursor to back up, nor deleted anything; it just prevents me from using the Internet comfortably and efficiently. It sucks, but it doesn't delete things. Have you considered reloading your mouse driver? If you buld your own, you might want to reload the chipset firmware for your motherboard, too. Failing that, I'd have another beer and hope it goes away tomorrow...
