Vista and common developer tools

Is it known an estimated release date for the Vista compatibility service pack for Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005? I'd really like to try out Vista, especially UAC seems something I waited for years, but if even VS05 is not Vista-compatible I wonder what will happen with all the rest of the software on my machine. SourceGear Vault server does not work either :( Does anybody know anything about Resharper? Is Vista Business edition the lowest edition w/ IIS? Which edition would you suggest for a developer? Thank you in advance

While VStudio is not "compatable" with vista at the moment, when running it as administrator i'm still able to develop and debug applications. I'm finding it runs much much quicker than on XP as well. I don't use sql server on my laptop so i couldnt tell you how well that works. The program in my last article, as well as the article itself was written, compiled, tested on vista w/VS2005 SP1. It does seem to work. Microsofts site for vista has a list of features included in each edition. Personally i have Ultimate, but i'm thinking of moving down to one of the other editions to save some disk space. Business looks like a pretty well rounded version for a developer.

For SQL 2005 SP2 I've seen Q1 2007. That's about as accurate a date as you get from MS these days.

The consensus seems to be that it's a good idea that's been poorly implemented.

They're both Q1 2007. See here for VS - FAQ: Visual Studio and Windows Vista[^]
