Anti Virus - and the winner is?

We all use anti virus software, especially those who value their data and tools. And also everybody has their own opinion on which anti virus software is the best. Google-ing it is pointless, as most surveys give totally different opinions on the so called "Top" anti virus software. I wanted to know you guys, which do you use and why?
I use Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition v10.1.0.401, I love it mainly cause i know it works well and cause it really, really low on my computer's resources and in combination to that, windows firewall, regular updates and Firefox, i need no other protection.Ericos Georgiades

I'm surprised you would mention that. I expected some free junk or something. It is the absolute best and I will never use anything else. I also have the corporate firewall. The best thing is that its not subscription based so I get free updates for life.

I'm surprised you would mention that. I expected some free junk or something. It is the absolute best and I will never use anything else. I also have the corporate firewall. The best thing is that its not subscription based so I get free updates for life.

I totally agree, something i should have mentioned. And many people comment on "hourly" updates and how superior anti virus software are because of such features. Personally I trust Symantec's anti virus definitions above any others, even if i receive them on something less than a daily basis, which is frequent enough.

Yeah, I have put Symantec's corporate anti-virus and firewall to the test on many occasions and it has always prevailed. Its a shame they wont deliver the same quality for the average user.

Otherwise Known As : Norton And yet Symantec's most popular software is Norton, which in my opinion, is the one of the worst anti viruses out there. (mostly due to it's amazing ability to chew on a computer's resources) In the case of Norton, I think my system could run better infected.

With Norton your system is infected. I have worked on many computers and the ones that had Norton or some other junk anti-malware software were painfully slow and I was constantly getting bombarded with update notices and I really hate the toolbars and floating junk that gets put on the side of the screen on some versions. You even need a special tool to completely remove Norton.

I use AVG free, and will continue to do so, even if my home computer right now has got the m_hook/Bagle.GE Trojan/Rootkit. :( :mad: X| So I'm not too confident on AVG right now, but anyway, it runs smoothly and, well, is free...

I have tried it (AVG), and maybe I'm paranoid when it comes to my computers resources but, AVG delays startup and consumes continuously, much like NOD32, it's active engine is really active.

Price is definitely an issue, as free software is always used first. But honestly, and in a company environment, it's a small price to pay to protect data and equipment.

If you really want to try, I'll reformat my laptop and put WinXP with SP2 and all the latest updates, and you can try to get in, but I seriously doubt you will be able to reach/breach the system.

I don't use AV software either. I figure that if it is this damned hard for me to get out past the firewalls then good luck to the poor sod trying to get in.
