Shoaib Akhtar tonight made a new world record by bowling a delivery at 161 kms/hour (100.1 miles/hr). Lets see how much he will concentrate on the quality of bowling in the future. :omg: Imran Farooqui

How is the ball thrown? "bowling" to me means rolling it on the ground, which probably isn't right. ;) Just for comparison, the best baseball pitchers can reach 95 MPH, that's overhand and with a wind-up. --Mike-- Buy me stuff! In hurling the average speed of a slitoár is about 95MPH but it can go an awful lot faster than that. Hence hurling is the fastest field ball sport ing the world.. according to those people at Guinness.

Actually, there are a couple of pitchers that top 100mph - Billy Wagner and Randy Johnson. Several others are in the 96-98 range. Cheers, Tom Archer Author, Inside C# Please note that the opinions expressed in this correspondence do not necessarily reflect the views of the author.

It is surprising as I felt it is harder to bowl in cricket than it is to throw in baseball. If Shoaib Akhtar could throw then he would prbably reach around 120 miles/hr. I think the Braves should hire him.
