Score grubbing...

Is it just me or is anybody else noticing an increase on the number of people in the other forums ending their answers with something like: "If this was helpful to you, please vote for my message." It all just seems a bit mercenary to me... :^)

I dislike it too, if they ask me that I don't vote, even if I was planning to. If you're giving answers to get points you don't get the concept of this forum, or that's my opinion anyway. Here's my 5 :-D

I agree. They should be on 'Experts Exchange' or something...

Some work for money, some work for fun, but if a person is working for fun, you can't take away his salary. So there are people who reply for points and some dont care but we have to live with them, that is, vote the message if they are asking or not if the post deserves it.

Well, there seems to one funny thing about voting... I interpret the MVP icon description here[^] as if the descision of who becomes a CodeProject MVP is at least partly based on the votes. So if someone's longing to become a CodeProject MVP, I guess the votes would matter. I wonder if MVP status is based on posts in the Lounge as well... :~

Well, since there is a goal to reach MVP, and that goal is based on score, I expect those who wish to try for that goal would love to push a bit to get there. I am actually not interested in MVP. I offer what I can, when I can, no more, no less. Plus, there are smarter people here. I am just a hick kid, graduated from NM mining town by cheating his way through spelling. ;P

:laugh::laugh: Yep, that's what I'm afraid of. It takes the edge of the MVP status, doesn't it?

I know, but seriously, what's the big deal (no offence to all the MVP's doing great work out there)? This has always beena pretty relaxed place and the bright lights seems to shine through - the MVP stuff just seemed like a nice pat on the back for those doing really good stuff, and it was given without coercion...

But then I remembered, I really don't care what most people think.
