                  Well, it's often used on Hebrew or Arabic web sites. Also on web sites where the webmaster is into substance abuse - such as the site you pointed out.

                                      You actually see that a lot with GNU/OSS/GPL-ish documentation.  My guess is that the tools used to generate the output of the documentation are responsible for the navigation elements.  FWIW, I hate it as well! :mad:    I much rather a single large HTML document myself - I hate having to click back and forth trying to remember something I read a few "pages" ago...   Also makes offline viewing easier; it is a royal PITA to have to assemble those single pages into a single document just to be able to print something I can read while traveling.    Peace!
