You and a couple of co-workers go out quickly and start your own company. Then put a bid in lower than the now outsourcing company. You and your co-workers already know the project so you should be able to complete it sooner than the other company starting from scratch. And yall keep a job.

Mine just happened. Our entire department was informed it was being outsourced....we are 2 months from deployment. :omg: They are scrapping the entire project, and having the outsourcing company start from scratch. :omg: It wasn't a matter of the application not going well, or not working. We were actually ahead of schedule, and were in parallel testing with several business units (with excellent results and feedback BTW).:confused::confused::confused::confused:

To some extent, one could argue that the same thing happened to me. I (yes, one person) was replaced by I think 7 fellow from Costa Rica and the entire project was scrapped and started from scratch again. Last I heard, that project was being scrapped and restarted again. Well, at least I have a benchmark now. I'm worth 7 Costa Rican programmers! Woot! Marc

Well, a better solution would be to pull money, buy outsourcing company, fire all of the developers, finish the project in two months, and charge the originating company for 1-2 year of work (which is probably what outsourcing company would take to complete it). :D Yeah, I know it's a bit unrealistic, but it's fun to think if that could be true...

There really is NO turnaround. Since they are starting anew, they are simply using our existing project documentation. They will probably do their own documentation, but will use our extensive documentation also. I guess the rule of thumb is "don't document systems. It will make you easily replaceable."

Oh fun! They'll blame their delays on your documentation, too
