Planet Earth

I am posting this in the middle of watching the first episode out of eleven shows called Planet Earth on the Discovery channel. Let me just say that all the time and effort the camera crews put into this mini-series is well worth it. The images are stunning and I can't help but be in awe of nature from around the world. Definitely reminds me of how wonderful our home is and how important it is to protect it with everything ounce of our energy. If any of you care to watch the show, it begins at 8pm est on Sunday nights. It seems they are playing several episodes a night. I highly recommend it, it is simply amazing.

I was going to watch that, but then I realised that Gene Simmons Family Jewels was on.

 The only thing i have to say for that show is, at least he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. I hate "reality" shows in general, but when you're following a washed-up [actor|wrestler|musician|mobster's moll] around all day watching [him|her] argue with tradespeople, they should at least have the decency to not act as though it'll somehow make any difference in their life or anyone else's (with the possible exception of the minimum-wage lackey they just got fired).

It appears that everybody is under the impression that I approve of the documentation. You probably also blame Ken Burns for supporting slavery.

I don't like KISS, and I have always hated Gene. I'm not sure why I like the show.

Is it the series that was produced by the BBC? If so then the snow leopard footage and the African hunting dogs were both groundbreaking - especially when you watch the "how they were made" extras and realise those two 5 minute segments took more than a year each to capture.

Superb BBC series. I loved the shot when they flew out over Victoria Falls - the sudden shift in perspective when they went over the edge was mind-blowing.

Ahem, so in your opinion, Dear Sir, only lefties speak about global warming?? If so, that would really make you a broad minded person.

no others speak of global warming but generally only the uneducated lefties believe in anthropogenic global warming. The topic is much discussed over on the soapbox if you disagree Bryce

It's especially spectacular in HD. :) Look for it on both Discovery Channel and Discovery HD Theater. We watched the first two episodes last night.

Yeah, I read something about that on a plane the other day. I invariably buy those sort of series when they come out on DVD, and gorge myself on them.

It's without a doubt, one of the absolute best series I've ever seen...for those that are interested, i've just bought this[^] from Amazon.co.uk....Blue Planet is just as good as PE, and having the both togher for that price is stonking... If you like that sort of stuff, The Life series is also well worth watching....
