Which PDA do you use?

I am not dead set quite yet, but I was looking into the HP Jornada 568 and the Compaq iPaq H3800 series. Any recommendations? Should I look into a PalmOS based system or stick with PocketPC 2002? I want something that is very versatile - something that I can view pictures taken from a digital camera (The cameras I've looked at use CompactFlash format), nice organizing software, fast, easy hot-sync, etc. PLUS: I want to be able to program my own applications for it. I've worked with PocketPC 2000 using the Embedded Tools from MS. I liked it a lot (It's C++, how can you not?) but that's not to say that the Palm environment wouldn't be even better. Wireless internet is not necessary. :) ---- xian

More functionality and power (The 400Mhz procesor is out now from Intel). Using .NET for Mobile development has never been easier. Beta 1 is out and it's ready for the big time. iPaq 3765. IMO it has a better look than Palms and I can do more with it, programming wise, with my current skill set. Now if I only had the time to write something for it.

As Mike says, go the iPaq. The Palm has a smaller form factor but (IMO) is rapidly falling behind what the iPaq can achieve. cheers, Chris Maunder

My brother has an HP Jornada 548 with an Omnisky modem. He can surf the web and send and receive e-mails. When at a customers, or on vacation, he can take photos with a digital camera, put the Compact Flash card in the Jornada, and send the pictures back to the office or to relatives. Steven J. When can I get CP updates to my iPaq?
You can get CP updates on your WAP phone (www.codeproject.com/info/wapnew.asp) but I'm banking on the fact that CE 2002 comes with IE 5.5 so therefor, give or take a ridiculous amount of scrolling, you can already see CP on your CE ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

I thought there was a registry hack you can do that does some magic with the browser (maybe it merely modified the USER_AGENT to make it report that it's IE5.5. But even so - HTML 3.2 is still not bad ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

I have a Casiopeia- PV-s400plus. It was about $80. It can't display photos, and it doesn't have a external memory option. It has lasted a while for me, I use it several times each day. It does include a SDK, but it lacks good documentation, and quality examples. I would recommend the Pocket PC 2002, b/c of the tools MS offers. -Steven
