      The versions go: Visual Studio 6 Visual Studio.Net Visual Studio.Net 2003 Visual Studio 2005 Which version do you have access to? If you don't have the full VS, you can get the Express C++ IDE (based off VS 2005) from MS for free.

        Visual Studio 6 --> VC++ 6.0 Visual Studio.Net --> VC++ 7.0 Visual Studio.Net 2003 --> VC++ 7.1 (i'm not certaint about this one) Visual Studio 2005 --> VC++ 8.0 I think the Visual Studio 2005 Express is without the MFC libraries.
