I am not working for them but really mad at them now! They should rename that company: - Industry's Biggest Mistake - Intentionally Brainless Machines - Inferior But Marketable - It's Been Malfunctioning "Don't just put an if...else statement here and there to make it work!"

I say well done IBM for doing as well as you have and for keeping all those other people employed. (not too mention all the other stuff that IBM has done for the market that keeps you in a job) regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

Sometimes it does boil down to cutting 20,000 now or 400,000 later. :( Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Sickeningly close to the situation we are discussing below, only below has the long term workforce to think of and actual lives. Really 400,000? Holy smokes, MS is perceived to be so big but is chicken feed next to that. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

http://money.cnn.com/2002/05/09/technology/ibm/ Well, 400,000 was a number pulled out of my.... It looks like IBM has 160,000 people in the US alone. Well, it depends on the product. Have you ever called tech support for OS2? (late 1999, now I have no idea since I run Win2K! :-D ) Anyway they surely have good product (???) but does the price really fair? I guess also that 20,000 seem a large number to me! Ernest Laurentin wrote: Have you ever called tech support for OS2? Actually, I programmed on OS/2 since 1.0 and always had tremendous support from each level of IBM support. In addition, realize that when a company lays off people it's a bit like dumping items off a sinking ship. You might need those items, but if you don't do it, the entire ship is going down. Any company laying people off is in that same situation of doing so for economic survival. Cheers, Tom Archer Author - Inside C#, Visual C++.NET Bible
